Getting There

Nearest Airport: Inverness (INV) for the north, Glasgow (GLA) or Edinburgh (EDI) for the south
Flight Hubs: London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Amsterdam to Edinburgh or Inverness
Local Transport: Car rental is essential. Public transport exists but is too infrequent and limited for the Highlands. Car hire from Inverness from £40-70/day (~$50-90). Petrol stations are sparse; fill up when you can.
Visa: No visa needed for short visits by US, EU, Canadian, Australian and most Western passports (up to 6 months), but a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA, ~GBP 16) is now mandatory before travel.
