Getting There
Nearest Airport: Joya Andina Airport, Uyuni (UYU)
Flight Hubs: La Paz (BOB, 1h flight). Buses from La Paz take 10-12h on rough roads.
Local Transport: All tours use 4WD Land Cruisers with driver/guide. No independent access to the salar. Uyuni town is walkable.
Visa: Most Western passports: visa-free for 90 days. US citizens are now visa-free too (Bolivia dropped the US visa/reciprocity requirement on 1 Dec 2025). Yellow-fever vaccination may be requested.
