Getting There
Nearest Airport: Kota Kinabalu International (BKI) for Sabah; Kuching International (KCH) for Sarawak
Flight Hubs: Kuala Lumpur (2h), Singapore (2.5h), Manila (2h), Hong Kong (3.5h)
Local Transport: Internal flights essential (Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan ~45min, MYR 80-180/$18-40). Longboats on rivers. Hire a 4WD or join tours for jungle areas, public buses don't reach most wildlife sites.
Visa: Malaysian Borneo: most passports visa-free (30-90 days) and must complete the free MDAC before arrival. Sabah and Sarawak run their own immigration, you get a fresh entry stamp when crossing between them or from Peninsular Malaysia.
